Who We Are
The Friends of the Wekiva River (FOWR) is a nonprofit organization working
to preserve the beauty and natural functions of the Wekiva River System by
- promoting and protecting the aesthetic and recreational values of the river system.
- protecting the integrity of the Wekiva River Basin.
- working toward restoration and continuation of the River and its tributaries.
- presenting educational programs to achieve these goals.
What We Do
- examine potential impacts to the Wekiva and work to minimize or eliminate them.
- hold monthly board meetings.
- present programs
after the board meetings every other month. All meetings are open to the public.
- feature a yearly banquet and celebrate Wekiva River Awareness Day.
- publish a newsletter, conduct field trips
and share our love of the beautiful Wekiva.
