Special Thanks to the Camp Hosts at Katie’s Landing
Kathy and Mike Kormos are in their second year of camp hosting at Katie's Landing State Park. Following their retirement, the Cleveland natives began spending winters in Florida state parks in their RV. They were very impressed with not only the cleanliness of the parks, but also the overall friendliness of park volunteers. Two years ago, they applied to become volunteers, and their first assignment was Katie's Landing. Ironically, it was the first time Katie's had fulltime resident hosts.
They love the park and care for it like their own back yard. They like being a part of the immediate neighborhood and enjoy the friendships they've made with park staff and volunteers.
At home, Mike volunteers at the Crawford Auto Aviation Museum, helping to restore antique autos. He spends hours riding his bike in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and loves spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Kathy knits scarves and gives them to Cleveland's homeless. She also volunteers at her church and serves meals to the homeless.
Mike and Kathy have been married for 40 years. Mike was a journeyman machine repair for more than 45 years. Kathy, a graduate of Kent State University with a degree in Journalism, was a newspaper reporter, editorial supervisor, proofreader and legal assistant during her working career.
