Fall Pavilion Update: The Archaeological Stage
Ok folks, we really are getting close now. No really!
Progress hit another brief pause when we learned that the project required an archaeological study and related permitting. One last hurdle in this marathon!
Once the state approves the archaeology permit, the firm we’ve hired will begin its work and submit its findings back to the state. From there, the state can review the results and (fingers crossed) grant permission to move forward with construction — unless, of course, any artifacts are discovered during the dig, which would require further investigation.
Ideally, the study will wrap up by late October, and then the real building can begin! Timelines are still a bit uncertain, depending on what’s found, but we’re hopeful things will move quickly from here.
If all goes as planned, construction should be complete soon, and we’ll be ready to announce a grand opening celebration date in the next newsletter. FOWR would like to extend yet another HUGE THANK-YOU to all the volunteers and parties involved. It’s been a lot of hard work. The grand opening will be a well-deserved celebration of patience, perseverance, and finally, some joyful sighs of relief. We can’t wait!

The kit will provide the materials to construct a shelter very similar to this sample picture (24’x44’) with the exception of having a white roof to coordinate with the existing bathroom facility at Katie’s Landing. It will be built with laminate wood and have a gable roof. Image by RCP Shelters, Inc
