Wekiwa-Rock Springs BMAP Update

The Florida Springs Council (FSC) and Friends of the Wekiva River (FOWR) are heading to Tallahassee for a hearing on their challenges to the 2025 Basin Management Action plans for the Suwannee River and Wekiwa - Rock Springs Basin Management Action Plans (BMAPs).  The BMAPs are supposed to identify projects that will reduce nitrogen levels in the springs within these basins as necessary to control harmful algae growth, which threatens the habitat and food supply for fish and wildlife in the basins. 

FSC and FOWR believe the plans do not include enough projects to meet the 5-year milestones and the 20-year targets for nitrogen reduction.  FSC and FOWR are working on a settlement agreement.
